Technology and Society

Technology and Society

Technology today is very important as it helps the development of societies and is a great advantage for everyone in society.

To know that every society is developing and this goes hand in hand with technology, this can be used in all fields and any profession, but it is not only good technology in society also is a disadvantage because it has created a dependency one clear example would be the social networks.

People have created an addiction to what is social media and that causes lost too much in labor and personal As an example we can say that people have lost contact between because everything happens behind a monitor. Also, there is lack of conversation among family members who gather for dinner and do not speak to each other in his mobile phone and that has I come to make a type of cavemen people of today.(please rewrite this last sentence)

But also remember that technology helps to keep contacts close even though they are far away and just with one click you can talk to that person.
I believe that moderate use of technology in society lead to society’s development and will be good for everyone.

In conclusion, somehow technology may have a good use and over the years, it will be easier for everyone and will give a better use without having to reach both ends. Because they can give you a good use social networks as in the area of trade, as a means of information, as a way of knowing situations in other countries in order to give you many utilities that enable people every day just knowing how to use them well.

Reflective Section

I think in this course I learned many things about the English language, and that this language is very important for our future.
In my personal opinion this course is difficult since the school has cost me a lot, but if it is seen that every day I learn more.
I also think that to learn and master this language must practice every day.
for me biggest challenge is having to learn all the tenses that truth is very difficult and very important to have good grammar and good conversational level.
to overcome this challenge I am studying each tense to make it easier at the check point.

Grammar

Making connections
Unit 1

In this unit I learned about many things such as new words have to know in the workplace and I think are very important.
This unit was a good start to prepare in the course of English and know that comes later.

Unit 2
Making a Living

When we want to talk about future facts or things we believe to be true about the future, we use 'will'.
  • The President will serve for four years.
  • The boss won't be very happy.
  • I'm sure you'll like her.
  • I'm certain he'll do a good job.
If we are not so certain about the future, we use 'will' with expressions such as 'probably', 'possibly', 'I think', 'I hope'.
  • I hope you'll visit me in my home one day.
  • She'll probably be a great success.
  • I'll possibly come but I may not get back in time.
  • I think we'll get on well.
If you are making a future prediction based on evidence in the present situation, use 'going to'.
  • Not a cloud in the sky. It's going to be another warm day.
  • Look at the queue. We're not going to get in for hours.
  • The traffic is terrible. We're going to miss our flight.
  • Be careful! You're going to spill your coffee.
At the moment of making a decision, use 'will'. Once you have made the decision, talk about it using 'going to'.
  • I'll call Jenny to let her know. Sarah, I need Jenny's number. I'm going to call her about the meeting.
  • I'll come and have a drink with you but I must let Harry know. Harry, I'm going to have a drink with Simon.
In this unit I think I learned one of the most important tenses that exist in English, since this time we can express our plans for the future.
You can use expressions like will probably and going to to talk about different ways in the future tense.

Unit 3
Lessons from History

Definitions

An adjective is a word or set of words that modifies (i.e., describes) a noun or pronoun. Adjectives may come before the word they modify.
Examples:
That is a cute puppy.
She likes a high school senior.
Adjectives may also follow the word they modify:
Examples:
That puppy looks cute.
The technology is state-of-the-art.
An adverb is a word or set of words that modifies verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.
Examples:
He speaks slowly (modifies the verb speaks)
He is especially clever (modifies the adjective clever)
He speaks all too slowly (modifies the adverb slowly)
An adverb answers how, when, where, or to what extent—how often or how much (e.g., daily, completely).
Examples:
He speaks slowly (answers the question how)

Risks in sports

Do you know how many people die while doing sports? We all know there are risks involved in sports. We accept the risk it takes when we practice the sport, although, it doesn’t means that we no longer care about putting our lives in danger just for practicing a sport. However, is there a point at which the risk associated whit the sport makes it not a viable activity to do? For some people it doesn’t matter, if there are precautions, they will still practice the sport.

Unintentional injuries represent a major health concern among adolescents. There are a lot of accidents that have occurred while practicing a sport, most common are deaths and injuries in Formula 1 car racing. In general, the risk of unintentional injury summits in adolescence, when children are susceptible to engaging in risk taking. Risk taking in sport involves activities such as diving to head the ball in soccer, sliding at a base in baseball, swimming extremely long distances, lifting a lot of weight. The proportion of serious injuries resulting in long-term or permanent disability happen as a result of sports participation among athletes aged 10 to 13 years is significantly higher than that for any other age group of youth athletes.
An interesting data is that approximately 2.9 million children sport injuries occur annually in the United States. Instead of focusing on the results of serious accident and condemning the sport as dangerous or lethal, there are two ways of recovering from an incident like that. The first one is by using the appropriate equipment to practice the sport. The second one is following the rules of the sport; never do what you want to if it’s going t put your life in danger. And something very important is to use the services provided to the team of the sport to recovery from the injury, or the traumatic event.
Another factor that might influence the perceived risk and risk-taking relationship is self-efficacy. Athletes who perceive a situation as risky have low self efficacy, and higher probability of failure, and so greater potential for injury. Conversely, athletes who are excellent in their sports are more likely to attempt difficult skills or skills that involve calculated risks. For example, young soccer players who overestimate their abilities and inaccurately perceive playing soccer to be a low-risk activity may engage in behaviors on the field, such as aggressive play, and this place them at high risk for injury.

There are , some accidents are just that, accidents. There are a lot of risks in sports that we cannot control. Sports represent a relatively controlled environment in which people are, for the most part, free to make their own decisions to engage in risk taking and in which the consequences of their decisions are significant. When we look at sky-diving, scuba-diving, marathon running and other extreme sports, there seems to be some natural level of risk that people are prepared to take on for a challenging and exciting freedom activity, while still being risky. People are free to practice whatever sport comes to mind, but it’s always recommended to do it with the security it needs.
